Community members are invited to participate in the creation of Memory Collage.

The Ukrainian Museum is partnering with artist Molly Gochman to host two community-based activations on Thursday, September 24th from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday, September 26, from 2 to 6 pm, inviting multigenerational diaspora members to bring any mementos, family artifacts, or photos to scan into a memory collage in the Museum lobby. The artist and her team will be present on Saturday, September 26th.

Additionally, the Museum will unveil Gochman’s large-scale Memory Collage, drawn from the permanent collection and designed for the entrance, windows and lobby of the Museum on Saturday, September 26th. 

Memory Collage is an ongoing collaborative artwork by Gochman that illustrates how objects hold memories and connect communities.

Since 2009, the project has invited people to share personal items such as photographs and keepsakes that carry emotional meaning. 

For this iteration, Gochman collaborates with The Ukrainian Museum to explore its remarkable archives and engage the Ukrainian community—a community defined by deep cultural roots, intergenerational memory, and an enduring sense of home carried across distances and generations. Drawing on the museum’s collections as a foundation, the project will carry the Museum into its 50th anniversary celebration through a series of workshops hosted at the museum, where all are invited to contribute their own objects and keepsakes.
