The opening of Memory Collage, a project by artist Molly Gochman created from scanned fragments of the museum’s collection, is coming soon to The Ukrainian Museum. The collage, printed on vinyl, will temporarily adorn the glass windows and entrance of our building. The opening is on Saturday, September 26, with installation unveiling & remarks from the artist at 4 pm.

Ahead of the opening day and day of, we are hosting two free workshops open to all generations. Come with your children and grandparents, bring your friends, and add your own story to the project:

We invite you to bring along memorable photographs, souvenirs, trinkets, or family heirlooms that remind you of home or hold special sentimental value for you. We will scan them and return them to you, and the scans will live on in the shared Memory Collage.

Memory Collage is a living, collaborative work of art that explores how objects hold memory and bring communities together. Since 2009, the project has invited people to share photographs, trinkets, and other keepsakes that carry emotional meaning. Each contribution, digitized and woven into a larger shared narrative, becomes part of a growing catalog of collective memory. In this version of the project with The Ukrainian Museum, Memory Collage honors the cultural heritage and living memories of the Ukrainian community, weaving individual stories into a shared portrait of resilience, identity, and independence.
